Our journey to Sarangkot, one of Nepal’s most famous sunrise viewpoints, began long before dawn. While the city of Pokhara was still asleep, we set off through the winding mountain roads, eager to witness one of the most breathtaking sunrises in the Himalayas.
By the time we reached Sarangkot, darkness still lingered over the hills. The crisp mountain air was freezing, and the silence of the early morning created a peaceful atmosphere that made the journey even more special.
Before heading to the viewpoint, we stopped at the Green View Restaurant. Wrapped in warm jackets, we gathered around steaming cups of hot tea. In the biting cold, that simple cup of tea felt incredibly comforting, giving us the warmth and energy we needed before climbing to the top.
Every sunrise is a reminder that nature paints its most beautiful masterpiece before the world fully awakens.
With cameras in hand, we began ascending the long stone staircase leading to the main observation point. The climb was short but exciting, knowing that one of nature’s greatest spectacles awaited us. As we reached the summit, we were amazed to find the viewpoint already crowded with visitors from around the world. Photographers had their tripods ready, travelers stood quietly facing the eastern horizon, and everyone waited patiently for the first glimpse of the rising sun.
Slowly, the darkness began to fade. The eastern sky transformed into soft shades of blue, pink, and golden orange. Then, almost magically, the first rays of sunlight touched the snow-covered peaks of the Annapurna Himalayan Range.
Within moments, the majestic mountains glowed brilliantly in golden light. The towering white peaks, standing proudly against the clear blue sky, looked almost unreal. It was a breathtaking sight that no photograph could fully capture.
From the viewpoint, we could also see the beautiful city of Pokhara waking beneath us. Fewa Lake shimmered peacefully in the morning light, dotted with colorful boats, while the surrounding green hills added another layer of beauty to the landscape. The contrast between the tranquil lake below and the magnificent snow-capped Himalayas above created a panorama unlike anywhere else in the world.
The cold breeze, the silence of the mountains, and the golden sunlight slowly spreading across the valley created an unforgettable moment. For a few minutes, everyone stood quietly, simply admiring nature’s extraordinary beauty.
Watching the sunrise from Sarangkot was more than just another travel experience—it was a reminder of how small we are compared to the grandeur of nature. The peaceful atmosphere, the spectacular Himalayan scenery, and the unforgettable colors of dawn made this one of the highlights of our Nepal journey.
