The morning had not yet awakened. Pokhara was still wrapped in silence as we set off through the winding mountain roads towards Sarangkot, one of Nepal’s most famous sunrise viewpoints. Our mission was simple yet unforgettable—to witness the first rays of the sun illuminating the majestic Himalayas.

As our vehicle climbed higher, the air became colder with every turn. The crisp mountain breeze reminded us that we were approaching one of nature’s most spectacular stages. Although the cold was intense, our excitement easily outweighed the discomfort.

Upon arriving at Sarangkot, dawn was still a little while away. We took shelter at the Green View Restaurant, where a steaming cup of hot tea became the perfect companion on that chilly morning. The warmth of the tea refreshed not only our bodies but also our spirits, making the wait even more enjoyable.

With our cameras ready, we began climbing the stairs leading to the main viewpoint. Around us, travellers from different parts of the world gathered with the same anticipation. Some adjusted their camera settings, others quietly admired the dark silhouette of the mountains, while many simply stood in silence, waiting for nature’s masterpiece to unfold.

Gradually, the eastern horizon began to glow. The deep blue sky slowly transformed into shades of orange, pink, and gold. Then came the magical moment—the first rays of sunlight gently touched the snow-covered peaks of the Annapurna Range and the iconic Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain). Within minutes, the mountains were bathed in golden light, creating a breathtaking panorama that left everyone speechless.

No photograph can truly capture the feeling of standing there. The peaceful silence, the icy mountain air, and the breathtaking beauty combined to create a moment that will remain etched in our memories forever. It was more than just watching a sunrise—it was an experience that reminded us of the incredible beauty and grandeur of nature.

If you ever visit Pokhara, make sure to wake up before dawn and head to Sarangkot. Watching the first light of the day paint the Himalayan peaks in shades of gold is an experience that will stay with you long after your journey ends. It is not just a destination; it is a moment of wonder, inspiration, and unforgettable memories.
